Track Lubrication Challenge by One Rail a Success

One Rail are the market leader for intermodal services on the Adelaide to Darwin corridor, servicing Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, Katherine & Darwin. With over 3,700km of owned/leased track and 55,000,00 tonnes of freight annually, it is vital the track is maintained and lubricated effectively over some of Australia’s harshest conditions.
RS Clare’s Claretech Ecocurve Heavy Haul has been in use in 16 of their lubricators from Alice Springs to Darwin for over 2 years covering 2,250km of track.

The track is carrying regular intermodal, Ghan passenger and bulk product. The Claretech Ecocurve Heavy Haul grease has provided a substantial improvement through increased carry down and because it has not solidified in extreme temperatures. No blockages means less maintenance. The Claretech Ecocurve Heavy Haul grease also carries one of the highest environmental credentials; the EU Ecolabel for biodegradability, so it is also having a very positive impact on the environment.
Scott Lavis, One Rail Track Maintenance Engineer had this to say about the product:
We were facing major issues with wayside lubrication in the extreme Northern Territory climate, with existing suppliers unable to provide us with a product that was both stable in 40°C+ conditions whilst also offering adequate track carry down. Our greaser hoses and pumps were continually suffering from blockages caused by grease separating and drying out in the machines, resulting in high maintenance costs.
